Rethymno Carnival festivities are returning to Rethymno, from January through February 26 .  There are plenty of ways that locals and guests are once again able to celebrate the famous Cretan carnival this year. Rethymno Carnival 2023 looks promising as it is one of the biggest cultural winter events in Rethymno and all over Crete. Everyone is looking forward to and waiting to participate in this year's festivities, after three years of absence. Carnival's main parade will be held on Sunday 26 February 2023 In this week's kick-off meeting, a total of 16 out of 37, about half of them which have already registered for participating, will use the costumes of 2020, when the carnival was canceled due to coronavirus, just two days before the main parade. Most of the carnival participants have decided that they will order new costumes, estimating that their members will either not want to wear the old ones or the children will not be able to wear them anymore, having grown up! February is a cold month of the year! It is also a month of renovations for Goly's Villa, mainly because there are not many bookings at this time of year. So we prefer to move and deal with everything that needs to be done. At the same time we live in the house, (don't forget it is our main house, and we treasure it). The last few days as I said, the weather is very cold but our stove is the best way to have a warm and comfortable environment at home. Air conditioning systems, although present in the house, are not needed.  Today we also cooked at our stove! Lima beans as you already read in the title of this article! Well those weren't from our garden, the carrots, spring onions, fresh fennel were, and we grow a lot in our garden, lima beans not yet! The last few days we have senced Winter. Earlier than other years is the truth, but there isn't anything to do for having a different weather. Our Stove is in full use as we don't prefer air conditioning... and these air conditioning beauties are just exist... on the walls. This means that we have most of our stove use, as we also cook in it. So, Winter is here but Nature is still alive! A walk through our garden this morning revealed the peaceful existence of Nature itself. No Winter or whatever is capable to hold back Life. We observed life as it continually going and what else to do than share everything with you.  From the fruitful arbutus tree, the blueberries that thrive, the snail that walks quietly and peacefully, to the crimson rose that we honestly wonder about its endurance at such a time. Sundays have always been family reunion days, and we have not changed this habit even though our children live far away. As such days we always had some special food in the oven. ...
